When applying for a tourist or business visa (B-1/B-2), it is necessary to go through an interview with a consular agent at a United States Consulate or Embassy. The goal is to confirm that the applicant plans to visit the country temporarily and then return to their home country. The questions vary by applicant and agent, but generally fall into three categories:

1. Purpose of the trip:

- What is the reason for your visit to the United States?
- How long do you plan to stay?
- Do you have friends or family in the United States?
- What activities will you do during your stay?

2. Economic aspects and ties with the country of origin:

- What ties do you have with your country that ensure your return? (relatives, employment, housing)
- Who will cover the costs of the trip?
- Will you be traveling with someone else?
- Do you live with someone in your home country and what is their occupation?

3. Immigration history:

- Have you been denied a visa before?
- Have you had problems applying for a visa?
- Have you recently traveled to other countries?

Each interview is unique and questions may vary depending on the individual case. It is important to respond clearly, honestly and without hesitation.
