The Ministry of Labor announced how a Mexican can leave the country to go to Canada as an agricultural worker
A couple of days ago, the Ministry of Labor shared an advisory to Mexicans who are interested in being part of the Mexico-Canada Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (PTAP).
First, it is important to point out that the Mexico-Canada Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program has been in operation since 1974, under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries.
Agricultural workers obtain a work contract in Canada in a safe, legal and orderly manner with a minimum duration of one and a half months and a maximum of eight months and a year, through the General Directorate of Employment and Productivity in the Regional Employment Offices of Atlacomulco, Ixtapaluca, Tlalnepantla, Naucalpan, La Paz, San Mateo Atenco and Toluca.

To begin with, applying to the Mexico-Canada Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program requires the following indispensable requirements:
- Be a Mexican national
- Be an agricultural day laborer or farmer
- Be able to read, write and have at least a high school diploma.
- Live in a rural area
Proof of experience in the field (this will be verified by the National Employment Service (SNE) through an examination.
It is also necessary to present the following documentation at the nearest Regional Employment Office that has the program:
- Birth certificate of the applicant and his/her economic dependents.
- Current official identification of the applicant and the person he/she selects as his/her beneficiary.
- Marriage certificate or proof of cohabitation in the case of being married
- Proof of address
- CURP
