On February 29, Canada changed the rules of the game to be able to travel to its country, since now all interested parties must have a visa to be able to visit the territory, following a system similar to that of the United States. The reason why it was decided to implement this new rule was thanks to the increase in asylum requests by foreigners in the country.
In case you had planned a trip to Canada, below we will tell you how much money you will need in your bank account to be able to process your visa, so you can move around the territory without any problem.
How much money should I have in the bank to get a Canadian visa?
The visa costs 100 Canadian dollars (about 1,255 Mexican pesos). However, you may have to pay other expenses, such as a fee for the collection of your biometric data that amounts to 85 Canadian dollars (about 1,000 Mexican pesos).
So you will need on average to have between 2,255 pesos and 3,000 pesos in your bank account to be able to pay for the visa. You can make other travel payments after obtaining your visa, and on average you will need 37,586.20 to make your excursion.
How to apply for a Canadian visa?
To apply for the visa, it is necessary to have a valid passport and complete an application form, if you are over 18 years old.
Additionally, you will need a code to create an account on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. As soon as you have the code, you must follow the following steps:
- Create an account on the IRCC portal to start your Canadian visa process
- Once there, complete the form that appears on the screen and upload the documents requested
- At the end of the process, the platform will ask you to make the corresponding payment.
According to the Government of Canada, the estimated time to obtain the visa is 4 to 6 weeks. Most visitor visas issued by Canada allow multiple entries into the country and are valid for up to 10 years.
