The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offers the possibility of applying for a free Green Card renewal through a fee waiver, available for certain forms, including the I-90 to replace the permanent resident card. Here’s how you can do it.

How to Apply for Free Renewal?

USCIS allows a fee waiver for applicants who meet certain criteria, such as:

  • Receiving verified economic benefits.
  • Having a family income below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
  • Facing extreme financial hardship.

Renewal Procedure

Form I-90: This form must be submitted if the Green Card is valid for 10 years and is about to expire (within 6 months) or has already expired.

Form I-912: To request a fee waiver, this form must be submitted along with the I-90 application.

Postal Submission: You must send the forms and required documentation by mail to the specific addresses based on the delivery service (USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL).

Mailing Addresses:

USPS:

  • USCIS
  • Attn: I-90
  • P.O. Box 21262
  • Phoenix, AZ 85036-1262

FedEx, UPS, DHL:

  • USCIS
  • Attn: I-90 (Box 21262)

This process makes it easier for applicants with financial difficulties to renew their Green Card without the cost of the filing fee.
