As of 2025, citizens of Australia, Canada and the United States will need a visa to enter Brazil. The change, which was initially planned for this year, will reverse a measure implemented in the government of Jair Bolsonaro in which the visa requirement for these three countries was suspended.
The permit for tourists of these three nationalities to enter Brazilian territory will have a cost of US$80.90. This visa will be valid for 10 years and may be used for multiple entries for stays of up to 90 days.
Applicants must also submit some information during the process, including a letter of intent specifying the dates and purpose of the trip. In addition, confirmation of accommodation and return tickets to the country of origin must be submitted.
The processing time for the visa for Brazil will be five working days on average. However, the website of VFS (the company that processes the applications) recommends applying in advance to avoid setbacks during the trip.
It is worth mentioning that those traveling for tourism or on a cruise may apply for the visa online, without the need to go to a Brazilian consulate.
