For some people, the American visa process can be very long and even complicated, since in order to obtain the precious document, it is necessary to go through an interview with a consular officer, which is the crucial part for the process to be successful or not.

For the interview, which is very short in time, since it lasts about two minutes approximately, there are many tips on how the interested party should go prepared to know what to answer, even what not to answer, this according to what was revealed by the former consul Brent Hanson, information recently published by Mañana de Nuevo Laredo.

In the interview, the applicant will have to answer some questions to the consular officer, so that this authority can be convinced of the applicant's ties to his or her country of origin. After the interview, the consular officer will decide whether to approve or deny the permit.

Which persons can obtain an American visa in May 2024 without an interview?

It should be noted that there are different types of visas that allow visitors to the United States to perform certain types of activities, such as tourism, business, work, studies, diplomacy, journalist visa, marriage, among others.

According to the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico, some people who do not need an interview to obtain a U.S. visa are those who already have a tourist or business visa (B1/B2). This is explained by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico.

Persons who are not required to attend an interview for an American visa

According to official information, there are two categories of people who are not required to attend an interview at the consulate to apply for a U.S. visa for the first time or to renew their visa.

If you are this age you may or may not go for an interview:

• 13 years of age or younger, you generally do not need to go to an interview.
• 14 to 79 years of age, if you are required (some exceptions when renewing).
• 80 years of age and older, you generally do not need to attend.

These are the requirements to obtain the American Visa according to the US Embassy

• You are applying for an American visa with a Mexican passport.
• Your previous U.S. visa is still valid or expired no more than 12 months ago.
• You have never been arrested or convicted of any crime.
• You have never been deported from the U.S., have never been denied entry into the U.S., or have never had any other problems with Immigration or Customs Enforcement.
• You do not have dual citizenship or if you do, the country of your second citizenship is also a member of the interview waiver program.
• Eligible applicants must submit their visa application (DS-160), pay their visa fee, and schedule an appointment with the Applicant Service Center (CAS) for fingerprinting, photograph, review of current passport and expired visa.
• Your applications will be forwarded to the Consulate for review by a Consular Officer.
• The U.S. Embassy and Consulate added that minors under 14 years of age whose parents have a B1/B2 visa or are applying at the same time are also not required to have an interview.
